Planning and implementing farmer group training on tree seed collection and handling

The Technical Report on Farmers Training documents the planning, implementation and outcomes of farmer training activities conducted under the Provision of Adequate Tree Seed Portfolio in Ethiopia (PATSPO II). The report describes approaches used to build farmers’ knowledge and skills in tree seed collection, handling, quality management and sustainable agroforestry practices. It highlights capacity-development efforts designed to improve the availability of quality tree seed, strengthen community participation in the tree seed sector, and support forest landscape restoration initiatives. The report also discusses stakeholder involvement, training methodologies, lessons learned and recommendations for enhancing future training programs, with particular emphasis on inclusive participation, local capacity strengthening and sustainable seed supply systems in Ethiopia. The training activities contribute to broader objectives of improving restoration outcomes, biodiversity conservation and rural livelihoods.
