Conservation tillage: a Southeast Asian perspective

The paper reviews some of the most promising directions towards providing conservation tillage practices that may make sense to Southeast Asian farmers. It examines some indigenous ways in which some farmers have applied good sense and resourcefulness to the challenges of sustainably managing their land. It emphasizes some of the ways that farmers are combining or might combine, the best of modern technology with their own dependable practices, to cope better with their limitation in sustainably managing their land. The discussion makes the distinction that there is, a fundamental difference in conservation tillage strategy for those who have draft power compared to those without.
